Did You Know the Brains Behind Cult Gaia Helped Design Bratz Dolls?
Believe it. Jasmin Larian Hekmat, the woman behind the wildly popular brand Cult Gaia, grew up inside one of the most iconic fashion toy brands of the early 2000s. Her father, Isaac Larian, is the CEO of MGA Entertainment, the company that created Bratz. That means Jasmin wasn’t just watching the doll brand evolve. She was part of it.
The Yasmin Doll Is Named After Her
At just 12 years old, Jasmin helped her father develop Bratz during its earliest phase. The character Yasmin was named after her and modeled after her sense of style. She helped brainstorm early outfit ideas and thought through how dolls could look fashionable, fun, and different from anything else on toy shelves. That early creative influence would later shape her own approach to design, one where personality, boldness, and strong silhouettes take center stage.
She Went From Dressing Dolls to Dressing Women
After studying fashion and marketing at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, Jasmin returned to Los Angeles to launch her own brand. Her goal was to design fashion that could stand on its own. She wanted each piece to feel sculptural, thoughtful, and unlike anything mass-produced. That mindset led her to create the Cult Gaia Ark Bag, a bamboo half-moon handbag that quickly became a must-have item across Instagram and celebrity wardrobes.

The Bratz x Cult Gaia Collection Was a Full-Circle Moment
In 2022, Jasmin and MGA teamed up to release a Bratz x Cult Gaia doll collection. The dolls, Yasmin and Cloe, were dressed in mini versions of real Cult Gaia outfits, including heels, dresses, and accessories. This wasn’t just a collaboration. It was a creative homecoming. Jasmin described it as “one of the most surreal moments of my career” in her interview with Teen Vogue.
Cult Gaia Is Expanding Into Fragrances & Beyond
Jasmin recently launched Cult Gaia’s first fragrances: Mast, Zan, and Noor. Each perfume reflects her connection to memory, nature, and personal identity. Mast is creamy and sunlit with notes of bergamot, coconut, and musk, capturing the warmth of a coastal afternoon. Zan is bold and spicy, blending pink pepper, cardamom, and smoky woods for a powerful, grounding aroma. Noor, meaning “light” in Farsi, offers a floral-woody balance with rose, black pepper, lavender, and vetiver, radiating elegance and clarity.
